One of the dishes that my husband loves is this easy tater tot casserole. At first I was hesitant to try this meal. But after the first time I made it, we realized it is better than it sounds! 😉 It’s a dish we eat all alone. You could make a side to go with it, but we prefer to eat it as is! I always make sure that I make enough to have for left overs. That is how much my husband enjoys this meal!
1 1/2 Bags of Frozen Tater Tots
1 Cup Milk
1 1/2 Cups Cheese
1 Can Cream of Mushroom
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. First you will want to layer the tater tots into a casserole dish. The amount you need may depend on what size you use. I used a 9×11 pan, so I used about a bag and a half of tater tots. Next you will want to make sure you have some shredded cheese. I used cheddar cheese and a little bit of a cheese that has a spice to it as well. Toss the shredded cheese, can of cream of mushroom and the cup of milk into a bowl. Then mix it all up with a spoon.
After you mix the bowl of cheese, cream, and milk you can pour it over the tater tots. I think it’s important to mix these ingredients up first before you add it to the tater tots. Other wise they will stick to the frozen tater tots and you will have a hard time getting them to mix evenly over the dish. Now I may add a little more milk and cheese to the top after I mix it up. I like the tater tots to be a bit more moist than on the dry side after baking. You can season to taste as well. I prefer a little garlic and salt on ours. Toss the casserole into your preheated oven and back for about 25 minutes.
